    Gordons Bay

    Clovelly

    Beach

A calm, rocky harbour cove between Clovelly and Coogee with an underwater nature trail, rich marine life, and a small sandy beach — a local favourite for snorkelling, freediving, and peaceful ocean swimming away from the surf. The clear water and accessible rock entry points make it ideal for beginners. The underwater trail is marked by a chain that guides snorkellers past sea caves, giant cuttlefish, and schools of fish. Easily reached on the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk.

    Getting There

Drive to Clovelly via Arden Street. Walk south along the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk from Clovelly Beach for about 5 minutes, or access directly from the footpath at the end of Cliffbrook Parade. Street parking on Arden Street.

    Best Time to Visit

Calm days for snorkelling — the underwater trail is best in flat, clear conditions. Summer for warm water. Morning for best visibility before afternoon wind chop.

    Tips

    • The underwater chain trail guides snorkellers in a circuit — follow it and look under ledges for cuttlefish and moray eels
    • The rocky entry is the only access — water shoes help navigating the entry point
    • Bring a mask and fins — the snorkelling here rivals many of Sydney's more celebrated dive sites
