    Birdie Beach

    Munmorah State Conservation Area

    Beach

A long, wild stretch of sand inside Munmorah State Conservation Area on the Central Coast, popular for its natural beauty, dramatic dunes, and well-known clothing-optional section at the northern end. The beach is rarely crowded and backed entirely by bush, giving it a remote feel despite being accessible by a short walk from the car park. Strong rips make it unsuitable for swimming at most times — come for the walk, the scenery, and the solitude.

    Getting There

Drive north on the M1 to Doyalson or Lake Munmorah exit. Follow signs to Munmorah State Conservation Area and park at the Birdie Beach car park. Short walk through coastal scrub to the beach.

    Best Time to Visit

Weekdays for solitude. Summer for beach walking. Strong rips are present year-round — this is not a swimming beach. The conservation area gate may have entry fees.

    Tips

    • Walk the full length of beach at low tide for the best views of the wild dune system
    • Strong rips make swimming dangerous at most times — come for scenery, walks, and solitude
    • The conservation area has several beaches — Frazer Beach to the south is equally pristine

    Entry & Facilities

State conservation area entry fee applies ($8/vehicle).
