    Captain Cook Lookout

    Copacabana

    Lookout

A clifftop vantage point on the Central Coast headland above Copacabana Beach, with outstanding views of the coastline stretching north and south. The grassy headland is a popular whale-watching spot from June to November, with humpbacks passing close to shore. The lookout is accessible directly from the beach car park and requires almost no walking — making it perfect for families or a quick stop on a coastal drive. Sunset here is reliably beautiful.

    Getting There

Drive north via the M1 to Gosford, then follow Scenic Highway to Copacabana. The lookout is at the south end of the Copacabana Beach car park — walk-up access from the parking area.

    Best Time to Visit

Morning for clear views north and south along the coast. Whale watching season (June–November) makes this an exceptional vantage point.

    Tips

    • Bring binoculars for whale watching — humpbacks often surface within 200m of the headland between June and November
    • The grassy headland is perfect for a picnic with a panoramic coastal backdrop
    • Combine with a swim at Copacabana Beach, one of the Central Coast's finest and least crowded

    Entry & Facilities
