    Australian Wildlife Sanctuary Bargo

    NSW

    Wildlife
    Kid-Friendly

A heritage-listed wildlife sanctuary in the Wollondilly region housing a remarkable collection of native animals in natural enclosures. Walk among free-ranging kangaroos, hand-feed wallabies, and get close to wombats and echidnas in a peaceful bush setting far removed from the crowds of larger wildlife parks. The on-site café serves home-cooked meals, and the education centre offers excellent insights into native fauna conservation. A genuine hidden gem for families.

    Getting There

Drive south on the Hume Highway to the Bargo exit and follow signs from the highway. Ample parking on site. Bargo train station is a short taxi ride away if arriving by public transport.

    Best Time to Visit

Open on selected days and school holidays — check the website before visiting. Morning feeding sessions are the best time to see the animals most active.

    Tips

    • The wombat enclosure is a highlight — gentle and accessible for young children
    • Bring cash as the on-site café may not accept cards
    • Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on uneven bush paths
